Estimate of BPA exposure by EFSA in its draft scientific opinion

According to an estimate in the EFSA draft opinion published on 25 July 2013, the average exposure to BPA resulting from feeding infants up to 3 months is 135 ng / kg bw / day ( nanogram per kilogram of body weight per day ). This value is 30 times lower than that mentioned in the previous estimate in 2006 (4000 ng / kg bw / day). Moreover, the same observation was made for adults, including women of childbearing age. Indeed , the estimate of 2013 (132 ng / kg bw / day) is approximately 11 times lower than in 2006 (1500 ng / kg bw / day) . Finally, the draft opinion of EFSA covers both dietary and non-dietary sources including thermal and environment sources (air, dust ... ).

The document is available on the EFSA website: DRAFT Scientific Opinion on the Risks to public health related to the presence of bisphenol A (BPA) in foodstuffs - Part: exposure assessment
